We celebrated our 20th anniversary on the 20th of April. We exchanged cards and gifts (more on this below), and went out for dinner. We went to Capital Grill in King of Prussia and had a sumptuous meal, well-served, and accompanied by a bottle of our favorite champagne, Veuve Clicquot. It was a fabulous evening to cap off a fabulous twenty years of marriage.
Now, for something completely unexpected. I spent some time constructing a poem for our 20th. It follows iambic pentameter rules, with a few rhythm exceptions. This structure has five "feet", or syllable pairs (the ‘penta’ part of pentameter), and a rhythm of “Dum da Dum da...”The rhyming follows the standard A B A B structure. Click here for the poem. Don’t ridicule me; I am simply an amatuer.
This past month, Karen announced to the leadership and employees of Main Line Health that she will retire July 1st. She will remain through the year in her role as Chairman of Healthcare Exchange, the regional effort for region-wide access to electronic medical records.
She is looking forward to playing more golf and tennis, longer vacations and trips, more time with friends and family, and more time for her “give-back” activities.
Karen is the Chief Information Officer/Senior Vice President of Main Line Health System, which includes Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lakenau Hospital, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Memorial Hospital, and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital - and a whole tassel of other healthcare delivery facilities. She is an avid athlete, playing tennis competitively, swimming, running, golfing, roller blading, biking, and exercising. She plays on RiverCrest Golf Club and Preserve's WGAP team, which went 4&1 in 2009. She had torn her achilles tendon in the Spring of 2008 and sat out of tennis and golf for a year, but has now resumed both and is in great form. She is a loving aunt to Ryan and Allison, and friend and "granny-like" to Matt and Kelly. All the kids love her. Me, too.Spring, 2009 - Karen with Kelly at Matt's Basketball Game
